Physical Education

Physical Education is very important at Great Dalby School

Physical Education (PE) plays a key role in the life of the children at Great Dalby. Every pupil is encouraged to take part and to enjoy the range of activities that take place.
PE is taught using the current National curriculum and every class has two hours of direct PE teaching each week.  Foundation Stage children also have access to Physical Development activities through Continuous Provision activities in the classroom.

Using Sports Premium Funding for PE, we employ Marvel Education to teach each class for an hour each week. Mr Hackett and Mr Hesketh are qualified PE instructors and their sessions are used as CPD for teachers to up-skill them in PE teaching.

The progression of skills across the PE curriculum are mapped out for each of our classes. Due to having mixed year-group classes we have a 2-year rolling programme of sports covered. Skills taught are transferable between sports.
